The Oma Lääkärisi health centres operate as a part of the public health centre network that provides patients the freedom to select their own health centre. We have implemented a completely new way of organising basic health care services: the services are divided into different lines which each utilise the time of the physicians efficiently. Our operation is based on a customer-oriented approach and strong multidisciplinary teamwork and on the accurate measurement of the effectiveness of the treatment. The operation of Oma Lääkärisi is being developed to tackle the challenges of basic health care, such as long waiting times and services provided in several locations, and our aim is to ensure high-quality and efficient treatment with high customer satisfaction.
The first Oma Lääkärisi health centre was opened in May 2013 in Espoontori and the operations model we have developed on the basis of this first centre will enable us to meet our goal of freedom of choice for the users of our services. The Oma Lääkärisi operations model combines the best aspects of private and public service production from the perspective of both the subscriber-customer and the end user of the service: direct access to treatment without long waiting times, customer freedom of choice, high-quality service, overall high quality and cost efficiency. Public health centres operating according to the Oma Lääkärisi operations model are operating at the moment in Espoo, Jyväskylä, and Lahti.
